Another woman who lost 200 pounds because of surgery revealed that she has been having affairs as a way to distract herself from her unhappy marriage. This can trigger depression that some post-operative patients try to self-medicate with alcohol, shopping, or smoking cigarettes.

A psychologist further stated that another paradox for this issue would be that the positive step of dropping pounds after surgery can be stressful in itself. He said that dynamics can change after one starts to reduce weight and putting the next foot forward. Relationships can shift as one puts balance in his life, and the lifestyle one would have requires adjustment.

Experts emphasize that bariatric surgery does not cause addiction. This kind of surgery has been around for 30 years, and there is no sufficient data linking surgery and addiction in a conclusive manner. Mental health workers suggests that after surgery, patients should attend a support group or go into therapy sessions. A post-surgery patient shares that after losing 200 pounds from his operation last April, he started dealing with anxiety issues for about two months. But with therapy and medications, he felt a lot better.

We argue for a need to return to food as the source of nutrition knowledge. Dr. Jacobs co-authored the article with Linda C. Tapsell, a nutrition researcher at the University of Wollongong in Australia.
According to Dr. Jacobs, nutrition science needs to consider the effects of food synergy — the notion that the health benefits of certain foods arent likely to come from a single nutrient but rather combinations of compounds that work better together than apart. Every food is much more complicated than any drug, said Dr. Jacobs. It makes sense to want to break it down. But you get a lot of people talking in the popular press about carbohydrates and fats in particular as if they were unified entities. Theyre not. Theyre extremely complicated.
When two scientists won a Nobel Prize in 1937 for identifying vitamin C as the essential component in citrus fruit that prevents scurvy, it somehow set the trend for the scientific community to focus on the health effects of biologically active single nutrients in foods. Nutrition researchers are breaking down the nutrients in food to identify its most potent benefits, such as beta carotene from carrots, lycopene from tomatoes, omega-3 from salmon, potassium from banana, among others. Foods rich in vitamin E have been widely considered as being good for the heart.
However, studies revealed that attributing the broad health benefits of a diet to a single compound is considered misguided. The idea that a diet rich in beta carotene and vitamin A can lower many types of cancer had been inaccurate based on the well-known 1994 Finnish study where smokers who took beta carotene were found to have an 18 percent higher incidence of lung cancer. In a similar study done in 1996, researchers gave beta carotene and vitamin A to smokers and workers exposed to asbestos. But the trial had to be stopped because the people taking the combined therapy showed markedly higher risks for lung cancer and heart attacks.
Since then, studies of other vitamins, notably vitamins E and B, have also failed to show a benefit. According to some quarters, vitamins are too often examined in sick people while the real benefit may be in preventing disease. On the other hand, Jacobs notes that the better explanation may simply be that food synergy, rather than the biological activity of a few key nutrients, is the real reason that certain diets appear to lower the risks of heart disease and other health problems.

Smoking, they say, is the leading cause of lung cancer world-wide. A recent study shows that, in the United States alone, 157,200 people have died of smoking-related lung cancer. Some of which are caused directly by smoking, and some due to second hand smoke. However the effect of smoking does not only stop at lung cancer.

Smoking and cancer

Statistics show that smoking attributes to 54 of mouth cancers, 50 of esophageal cancers, and 70 of cancer of the larynx. And also, in relation to men and womens sexual health, smoking increases risks of cervical cancer by 19 to 80 depending on the frequency of consumption, and it also increases risks of penile cancer by 50.

These numbers certainly prove that smokers are at a bigger likelihood to develop a lot of different kinds of cancers as compared to non-smokers. Male smokers have a 20 increased chances of developing lung cancer while women have a 13 increased risk.

o The sensation of something permanently stuck in the throat.
o Voice changes, such as persistent hoarseness or huskiness.
o Throat pain.
o Referred pain into the ears.
o Swallowing difficulties.
o Breathing difficulties.
o Swollen lymph glands.
o Gastrointestinal disorders, such as excessive reflux, diarrhea or constipation.

Treatment

Treatment of oropharyngeal cancer will depend on the size, type, and location of the cancer and whether it has already spread. It may include one or a combination of the following

What do we know about the causes of tinnitus?.
Where does it have its roots?

Ever heard of social sickness? Me either. Its a phrase that I like though.
Here in Germany its called Volkskrankheit has nothing to do with cars .

I once tried to compile a list of all elements which I suspected may have contributed to MY own tinnitus. Obviously, I listed the negative aspects of my life over a 10 year period.
Some of these things could have been avoided, most of them were linked to each other. Dont forget, this is only a list of things that I think should be mentioned.
Ive tried not to generalize and Ive tried my best to stay honest, even if it means confessing to some bad sins.
To be perfectly honest its not as dramatic as it looks. It just looks outrageous when written down!

Marital Stress,
Heavy smoking,
Drug and medication abuse, i.e. Valium, Marijuana, Cocaine
Relationship crisis,
unhealthy eating habits,
Loud noises,
Lack of exercise,
High cholesterol,
High blood sugar rate,
Personal loss,
Caffeine addiction coffee and cola
Lack of sleep,
Financial Problems,
Overweight,
Business pressures,
Inclination to worry about everything.

So.there we have it.
It looks terrible I know. The worst thing is that I am one of millions who used to live like this. If you cant identify with anything written on this list then you shouldnt have tinnitus. Any one of these elements on their own would be harmful enough for any person.

Combine them and youre left with a time bomb waiting to explode.

So now we have two lists. The first one above describes the symptoms and the second one describes possible causes. If you look carefully at the causes it wont take much imagination to conjure up a “symptom list” like the one above. What else do you expect?.

I dare youTake a pen and paperwrite down your own “bad list”. Be absolutely honest and write down all the things that you arent proud of or maybe would rather forget. Write down all the things you would like to change if you had a magic wand. My bad list is there for everyone to see. You can hide yours o

By the way, you dont have to have tinnitus to create a list like mine. I would be willing to bet that EVERYONE can come up with a list similar to mine. I say only similar because I know that not everyone is overweight, or smokes or tried drugs.

Think carefully about what you are reading on your list. If you are very honest, you will find that you dont need a magic wand to shorten this list. The only person on this planet that can change this list to something to be proud of is YOU!

After an “auditory crash ” two years ago which left me with a temporary loss of all hearing I had no other choice than to take action.

Ive been looking for an English Term for the German word Hrsturz. In fact this term is made of 2 words.
Hr to hear and Sturz to crash . I find this a fitting term

Anyway this “Auditory Crash” of hearing lasted almost 2 days at the most and thanks to my doctor, I was up and about a week later.
After reading many books and collecting all the information I could find, I decided to take action. I didnt know it then, but the decision to cut out everything that was harming me probably saved my life.
